POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Governmental Affairs reports to the President of the Board of Commissioners and to the Executive Counsel. The role involves liaising with local, state, and federal government officials concerning the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – East (SLFPA-E). The director provides support and advice on funding, regulation, and legislative matters at various levels. Salary Range:
$114,400 to $135,200 RESPONSIBILITIES:
The director manages governmental and legislative affairs related to SLFPA-E and the levee districts within its jurisdiction, including: 50%
- Serving as the primary liaison between SLFPA-E and government bodies at all levels. 10%
- Coordinating and participating in meetings to achieve funding and legislative goals. 10%
- Reviewing legislative instruments and advising leadership on impacts. 10%
- Identifying funding sources and monitoring applications for capital projects and operations. 20%
- Assisting commissioners and leadership in resolving issues with government entities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of legislative bodies and functions at all levels. Skilled in interacting with government and private sector stakeholders and keeping leadership informed.
