Job Description: The Office of Student Engagement exists to connect students with existing and emerging interests, establish new social connections, and support an authentic sense of belonging to their new community. The Office includes Student Leadership Center management, Student Activities, Recreation and Club Sports, New Student Orientation, Parent Support and onboarding, Greek Life, Special Events, and Performing Arts. As the Director of Student Engagement, you will provide leadership, supervision, management, and budget oversight for the Office of Student Engagement. You will develop and implement a model for student engagement that fosters student connectedness, growth, and transformation. Your focus will include experiential opportunities in leadership and service, with student onboarding being a core component guiding your work. You demonstrate innovation, optimism, and effective communication. You are highly organized, tech-savvy, and capable of managing compliance-oriented tasks. You will provide strategic leadership, lead by example, and foster a high-performance, collaborative culture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Lead assessment and improvement efforts to enhance student engagement Manage over 100 student clubs and increase student participation in organizations Implement equitable hiring, training, and professional development for staff Develop and oversee departmental budgets aligned with institutional goals Manage daily operations of student union facilities Train staff and event coordinators in customer service, risk management, and facility use Leverage technology to streamline scheduling, resources, and communication Assess programming quality and satisfaction through metrics Mentor student leaders and organizations in governance, planning, and leadership Oversee risk management for Greek Life (currently 11 organizations) Orientation: Recruit, train, and supervise orientation leaders emphasizing peer mentorship Collaborate on holistic onboarding programs Design and execute orientation events with measurable outcomes, improving based on best practices Recreation: Develop recreation, fitness, intramural, and club sports programs Promote health and community through recreational activities Implement safety protocols and staff training Partner with Facilities to maintain and improve spaces and equipment Assess participation and satisfaction to inform strategic planning Performing Arts: Support student-driven arts initiatives in drama, music, and performance Create educational arts experiences for students Manage scheduling, marketing, and production support for performances Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree required Supervisory experience Experience in student, employee, or customer engagement, or experience management (paid or part-time roles) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years in Student Engagement, Student Success, or related fields Experience with increasing scope of supervision Event management experience Master's Degree in a relevant field (preferred) Additional Information: The starting salary is $77,346, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
