JOB SUMMARY: This role involves delivering top-notch patient care and assisting with eye exams.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma required.
- Experience in a medical setting preferred (1+ years).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy and concern for patients’ needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communication and Patient Care:
- Introduce new patients to office procedures.
- Explain the purpose and effects of tests.
- Collect patient history (chief complaint, present illness, past history, family history, allergies, medications).
- Document and measure accurately.
- Maintain sterile technique and infection control.
- Manage patient flow from the waiting room.
- Inform patients about the next steps and make them comfortable.
- Ensure smooth patient flow to the physician, adjusting test sequences as needed.
Instrument Maintenance:
- Troubleshoot instruments.
- Replace bulbs.
- Check connections.
- Report issues to Lead Ophthalmic Technician promptly.
Administrative:
- Seek guidance from senior staff when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms.
- Keep exam and procedure rooms stocked.
- Perform other duties as required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: This role operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands include talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. The employee must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
