Hiring Range: Compensation for this part-time role is a flat $3,000.00 annual stipend.
Work Schedule: This is a part-time role, and is flexible with variable hours depending on the need of the EMS program lead and administrators. This role utilizes, on average, 5 hours per month.
Job Description
This position is required for accreditation. CAAHEP standard III B.2 requires an operational medical director to maintain accreditation for an EMS program. This role provides medical oversight of the Laurel Ridge EMS program. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Review and approve the educational content of the program for appropriateness, medical accuracy, and reflection of evidence-informed prehospital practice.
- Review and approve minimum numbers of patient contacts and standards.
- Review and approve the process used to evaluate students in didactic, laboratory, clinical, and field internship.
- Review students’ progress and determine appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure competence of each graduate in all domains.
- Engage in cooperative involvement with program director and educational interaction of physicians with students.
Compensation: This is a part-time role, which is paid via an annual flat stipend of $3,000.00. The position is part-time and as such cannot exceed 29 hours per week and is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the position may offer educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance policies.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Must be board certified in Emergency Medicine.
- Must be licensed to practice Emergency Medicine in Virginia and the Lord Fairfax EMS Council area.
Additional Considerations
- Previous experience as a medical director for a paramedic program.
- Previous experience or training as an EMS provider (EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic).
Required Travel
Travel as per any required duties of the position, such as to sites/campuses and any training. Ability to cover assignments throughout the college service region as necessary for the job is required.
