A Lead Custodian assists in the delegation and oversight of Custodial personnel and their work activities to maintain a clean environment for Ellis gaming and related facilities.
- Adhere to Ellis Entertainment, LLC (“Ellis Park”) Core Values and Policies & Procedures.
- Act as a role model within and outside the gaming and racing.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude toward customers and co-workers.
- Consistently report to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.
- Participate and assist in the delegation and oversight of Custodial personnel and their work activities throughout the corporation's properties and related facilities such as, but not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, sweeping, disposing of trash, cleaning restrooms, cleaning table games, cleaning gaming machines, and cleaning windows.
- Maintain a high standard of safety and cleanliness.
- Participate in meetings and workshops to support Custodial operations and remain current on all cleaning agents and regulatory guidance.
- Model and enforce Custodial department standard operating procedures.
- Train Custodial personnel in the proper techniques of custodial duties.
- Apportion, coordinate, and direct daily cleaning duties of Custodial staff.
- Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions.
- Be a team player and foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of services, room locations, amenities, and provide accurate directions and information for guest inquiries.
- Maintain a courteous, positive, and professional working relationship with all personnel and the general public.
- Work under pressure; maintain regular and punctual attendance including working odd hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- One to two years of custodial experience preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in mixing, applying, and disposing of chemical solutions and products preferred.
- Knowledge of general safety rules, requirements, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Licensing & Certification:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid license through the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC).
Computer Equipment, Software, Machinery:
Experience with cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, wet vacuum, extractor, and chariot vacuum preferred.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend, crouch, hear, reach overhead, sit, stand, turn/twist, walk, and use hands 51 to 100% of the time.
- Ability to balance, climb, crawl, and kneel 25-50% of the time.
- Ability to push/pull, carry, lift, and transfer 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time.
- Ability to push/pull, lift, and transfer 25-50+ lbs. 1-24% of the time.
Requires the ability to solve problems, organize, plan, make decisions, interpret data, read, and write 51% to 100% of the time.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Train, direct, and apportion work among custodial staff.
Other Requirements:
Applicant must provide and maintain a valid driver’s license.
