Overview
The English Teacher is a full-time upper school teacher and member of the English Department. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where value is placed on the skills and passions of the discipline within a larger context of Milken’s school mission, core values, and educational philosophy. Primary responsibilities include teaching 5 English classes per year, serving as a Student Advisor, and collaborating on school-wide programming. RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide differentiation and intervention when necessary and appropriate. Monitor the progress of each student for mastery of course standards. Provide consistent high-quality feedback to students that is consistent with articulated course standards. Design high-quality, student-centered lessons and units that are well-sequenced in terms of content and developmental appropriateness. Create a safe and welcoming learning environment. Engage with students outside of the classroom through office hours, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school-wide programming. Maintain clear and ongoing professional communication with parents and students. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, required, master’s degree preferred. Previous teaching experience required, at the high school level preferred. Standard On-Campus Hours
Start: M - F by 7:45 AM End: M - Th 3:30 PM, F 2:30 PM *All schedules are subject to change. SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $120,000
