VHB's expanding Washington, DC office is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) team. This role offers the chance to work on diverse projects at regional and national levels, including energy, transportation, and federal lands initiatives. About the Position In this role, you will participate in NEPA reviews, including preparing Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and Categorical Exclusions. You will collaborate with various agencies and legal teams, supporting planning, permitting, and public engagement activities. Responsibilities Manage NEPA reviews and prepare related documentation and studies. Develop strategies for navigating NEPA and permitting processes. Coordinate with agencies, clients, and project teams to ensure timely project advancement. Support compliance with statutes like the Endangered Species Act and the National Historic Preservation Act. Assist in public engagement activities and data analysis for environmental projects. Monitor industry policies and interpret federal and state regulations. Represent VHB at industry conferences and events. Skills and Qualifications Knowledge of NEPA and related statutes and regulations. Experience with project management and stakeholder collaboration. Excellent communication skills. Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience; BA in related field required, Master’s preferred. Work Environment Flexible, hybrid work environment with occasional travel for meetings and project sites nationwide.
