About the Role
University Hospital is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Environmental Services to lead our environmental services team and ensure a safe, clean, and compliant healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing sanitation, waste management, infection control, and staff supervision to support the hospital’s mission of providing top-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do Lead and manage the environmental services department, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met Develop and implement strategic goals to improve service efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure compliance with hospital regulations and safety protocols related to environmental hygiene and waste disposal. Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and cost-saving initiatives within the department. Recruit, train, and supervise environmental services staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability. Collaborate with hospital administration and medical staff to maintain a sanitary healthcare environment. Manage hazardous and medical waste disposal, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct quality assurance inspections and implement improvement initiatives as needed. Qualifications
What You’ll Bring Required: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred).5+ years of experience in hospital environmental services or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, hospital safety regulations, and waste management procedures. Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment and collaborate across departments.
