Overview
Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial reports and regulatory reports filed with various regulatory agencies (i.e. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Federal Reserve Bank (FRB). Prepares journal entries, variance analysis and financial statements.
Responsibilities
- Prepares periodic reports for the FDIC, FRB, and other agencies in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions. Performs accounting and reporting duties including, but not limited to, preparation of journal entries, variance analysis, and account reconciliation.
- Assists in periodic testing and validation of report procedures and processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies. Prepares schedules requested by regulatory (e.g. FDIC, FRB), internal, and external auditors.
- Maintains and updates internal procedures and documentation for department functions reports.
- Continually searches for process improvement opportunities, researching, recommending, and assisting with implementation of value add changes.
- Assists with special projects.
- Assists other departments, branches and subsidiaries with accounting / regulatory issues.
- Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from accredited institution with a major in accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in financial reporting and accounting roles of increasing responsibility. Experience with publicly traded corporations, financial institutions, accounting firms and regulatory filings preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems, and SQL. Must have strong Excel skills (e.g., proficient with pivot tables, vlookup, filters, etc.).
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills to identify opportunities and risks and make recommendations. Must be deadline oriented and demonstrate strong project management skills. Proactive, curious, self-starter who requires minimal supervision with the ability to work across multiple departments and divisions. Demonstrated drive to improve, learn, research, and resolve issues independently and/or with others. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
