Job Title: Hardware Technician
Reports to: Director, Hardware Operations
Job Status: Full-time; non-exempt
Pay Range: $24-26 per hour, depending on experience
Fortress US is seeking a Hardware Technician to join our growing team. The position will report to the Director of Hardware Operations. In this role, you will be integral to the successful installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of access control systems at client venues across North America. You’ll work closely with our internal departments and clients to ensure all hardware systems are functioning optimally, troubleshooting and repairing components when necessary, and coordinating inventory and shipments in our Orlando-area warehouse. As a key point of contact, you will communicate regularly with clients, ensuring their needs are met, and helping them achieve their strategic goals. You will also be responsible for documenting all transactions, repairs, site visits, and inventory movements, while maintaining strict quality control standards.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will take ownership of your assignments, balancing multiple projects at once, and proactively solving issues to meet client deadlines. Essential for success in this role are exceptional internal and external communication skills and the ability to prioritize work and problem-solve.

This position will be based in our Orlando, Florida office. If you do not reside in the Orlando area, you must be willing to relocate. Travel up to 50% of the time should be expected.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Job
- Install, configure, and maintain access control devices for new setups and existing configurations
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair components and devices, ensuring proper functionality
- Conduct shipping and receiving operations, documenting movements accurately on the given platform
- Complete, maintain, and send reports of repairs, site visits, and part transactions/usages
- Maintain a high level of quality control and quality assurance standards
- Coordinate with other internal departments accordingly to address shortages, product changes, and support tickets
- Communicate with clients for scheduling, project details, and ensuring all client needs are met timely
Effectively execute in-person meetings and calls with clients and internal employees.
Accurately document inventory transactions, maintaining a full log for yearly audits.
*In addition to what is described above, the Hardware Technician may be assigned other duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- A successful candidate will be a self-starter with integrity and a desire to learn. Other qualifications include:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with high-level customer service
- Ability to work with hand and power tools while following safety and operational standards
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented, organized, and good at documenting
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Willingness to travel for work up to 50% of the time
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with others both internally and externally
Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of live event operations, specifically in the sports and entertainment industry
- Knowledge of warehousing and executing pick lists
- Previous experience in inventory control; including knowledge of barcoding, asset tagging, or kitting
- Certifications in related fields (e.g., BISCI INST1, CompTIA A+, APICS CPIM, Lean/Six Sigma)
- Proven experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware systems; experience with access control devices, scanners, and turnstiles preferred
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, sitting, and moving within the workplace.
- Large amount of daily steps when onsite at stadiums and arenas, including use of stairs
- Use vision and hearing to identify, observe, and assess.
- Heavy daily use of computer and phones to complete essential job functions.
- May operate machinery (e.g., forklift) or drive a vehicle if needed.
- Lift and move material or objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
