Hope Sports is a nonprofit organization that engages professional, college, and high school athletes in international service projects. Through mission trips that focus on building homes for the poor in Mexico and Costa Rica, athletes gain a new perspective—moving beyond a performance-based identity to a purpose-driven identity. Over the past 10 years, we’ve engaged over 1,000 professional and collegiate athletes , including nine Olympic teams and players from the NBA, NFL, NCAA, NASCAR, MLB, and IndyCar. Now, we’re expanding our leadership team to grow our impact, reach more teams, and become the premier sports mission organization in the country. Position Overview
We are looking for a high-energy, self-motivated leader to serve as Executive Director of Hope Sports. This person will be responsible for driving growth, marketing, and outreach, building strong relationships with NCAA coaches, athletic directors, and Olympic teams. As the key sales and marketing leader of the organization, this person will develop a pipeline and strategy to engage teams, sell Hope Sports trips, and establish key partnerships with colleges, athletic programs, and sports organizations. They will also lead mission trips , helping athletes engage in service while delivering content on identity, leadership, and team building. This is a faith-based organization , and candidates should be aligned with our mission and values. Key Responsibilities
Sales & Growth Strategy
Develop and execute a strategic outreach plan to engage NCAA, Olympic, and professional teams. Build relationships with coaches, athletic directors, and sports leaders to introduce them to Hope Sports. Position Hope Sports as a team-building opportunity , helping teams grow through service. Travel to expos, school visits, and key meetings to pitch Hope Sports. Marketing & Outreach
Develop marketing materials and strategies to promote Hope Sports to athletic teams. Collaborate with the team to refine messaging and branding that resonates with athletes and coaches. Secure speaking engagements, presentations, and networking opportunities at sports conferences and events. Mission Trip Facilitation & Program Development
Lead international mission trips (Mexico & Costa Rica) , guiding teams through the experience. Speak to athletes about identity beyond performance and facilitate meaningful discussions. Develop and refine content and resources on purpose-driven identity for athletes. Leadership & Organizational Growth
Work independently with minimal oversight , taking full ownership of sales and outreach. Partner with YWAM San Diego Baja and local teams to coordinate mission trip logistics. Provide input on long-term vision and growth strategy for Hope Sports. Qualifications & Experience
Required: 3-4 years of experience in sales, marketing, or nonprofit leadership. Proven ability to build relationships with coaches, athletic directors, and sports leaders. High-energy communicator with strong public speaking skills. Self-starter who thrives in an independent, entrepreneurial environment. Experience in the sports world (preferably NCAA level or above as an athlete). Ability to travel 25% of the time and work weekends during trips. Preferred: Background in faith-based organizations, missions work, or ministry. Experience engaging teams and athletes in leadership or mentorship capacities. Knowledge of NCAA, Olympic sports, and athletic culture. Success Metrics (First Year Expectations)
Within 6 months , meet with at least 30 coaches and leaders from different organizations. Secure at least 5 new teams for Hope Sports trips within the first 12 months. Within 12-18 months , have 10 new teams signed up. Develop a repeatable sales & outreach process to establish Hope Sports as a premier option for teams. Why Join Hope Sports?
