Under the direction of the Deputy Fire Chief, directs activities and manages a bureau which may consist of one or more divisions, battalions and units, or a combination of those. Under general direction of the Sheriff's Captain in charge of the Sheriff's Aviation/SAR Unit, supervises and schedules flight crews and operates helicopters in the performance of law enforcement, search-and-rescue, medical evacuation, and firefighting activities. Responsible for the protection of life and property from fire and other phenomena by directing the activities of the Ventura County Fire Protection District. Assists in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Ventura County Fire Protection District. Manages the activities of subordinate safety and non-safety personnel in an assigned battalion. Commands and supervises the fire suppression, prevention, training, and maintenance programs of a fire station. Performs a specialized function in directing all activities of the Fire Protection District Fire/EMS Communications Center (FCC). Performs a variety of tasks involving fire prevention and suppression and related duties as required. Directs activities of Fire Control Workers in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Manages the activities of subordinate safety and non-safety personnel in an assigned division.
