The Chief Academic Officer provides leadership, decision making, strategic focus, and guidance to curriculum, instruction, and special populations departments including the following areas: Multilingual, Library Services, Virtual Schools, Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Curriculum, and Special Education (including Child Study). Manages and directs the Area Superintendents in planning, development, and implementation of policies, programs, and practices to support student achievement. Leads departments to continuously improve overall student performance and outcomes through the development, implementation, and monitoring of district-wide strategic plans, organization-wide policies, and specific programs/initiatives that support HISD core vision and goals.
