Responsibilities
Position Overview:
The summer intern will support the Industrial Engineering team by conducting time studies and analyzing work processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and standard operating procedures. This internship provides hands-on experience in industrial engineering practices and exposure to real-world manufacturing or operations environments.
Reports to: Director of Industrial Engineering, Process Excellence
Duration : June 2, 2025 - August 8, 2025. Must be available for the first week (6/2 - 6/6), the last week (8/4 - 8/8) and at least 7 of the 8 weeks between 6/9 - 8/1. Any known absence must be communicated in advance to Talent Acquisition and the Hiring Manager.
Schedule/Hours per week : Monday - Friday, 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program.
Location : Tampa, FL with Travel required
Pay : $28.00 / Hour
Responsibilities
Conduct time studies to analyze task duration and identify improvement areas. Observe work processes and collect detailed data on cycle times, delays, and work elements. Document and analyze data to establish or refine standard operating procedures (SOPs). Assist in identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and waste in processes. Recommend improving productivity and optimizing workflows based on time study results. Collaborate with operators and leaders to validate findings and implement changes. Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing results and suggested improvements. Support other industrial engineering activities as needed.

Educational Background:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline. Strong academic standing (e.g., GPA > 3.0 preferred). Technical Knowledge:
Basic understanding of time study methods, work measurement, and process analysis. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and techniques (e.g., Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with data collection tools or software. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to identify trends and inefficiencies. Attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and reporting. Communication and Teamwork:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with operators, leaders, and cross-functional teams. Personal Attributes:
Self-motivated and proactive in identifying and solving problems. Organized and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
