SUMMARY Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a MRI Technologist I or II in our MRI department. This part-time (0.9 FTE) position will work Wednesday to Sunday (days can be flexible) from 5:30pm to 1:00am. This position will include a $5.00 an hour shift differential and a $1.00 an hour weekend (Saturday and Sunday) differential. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible). Under the direction of the area supervisor, performs patient care and technical functions to ensure proper radiologic/medical imaging diagnosis of patients. RESPONSIBILITIES - TECH I AND II Performs MRI exams under the order of a licensed medical practitioner Reviews and verifies MRI exam orders, radiologist’s protocol instructions, and patient identification in accordance with hospital policy Assesses patient risk via patient interviews and chart review; alerts nurses and/or physicians to possible contraindications for procedure Investigates and obtains information from various sources for radiologist to determine whether or not patient may safely undergo MRI exam Ensures patient is prepared and radiologist-ordered protocols for pre-medications have been completed Assesses patient’s need for care following contrast administration; arranges renal function tests and follow up according to radiologist protocol Provides education to patient and family members and assesses understanding Provides for the physical and psychological needs of patients during MRI exams Performs venipuncture for contrast administration, evaluates patency of IV access; administers saline flush per protocol pre/post IV contrast administration Performs Point-of-Care lab tests for evaluating renal function prior to contrast administration Prepares and administers oral and/or IV contrast per department protocols as prescribed by a licensed practitioner Ensures personnel caring for patient follow safety procedures Documents clinical and required regulatory information in patient’s electronic chart Initiates response to complications and emergencies arising during exams Demonstrates extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes Handles and secures medications and equipment in accordance with hospital policies Utilizes the image management system; acquire, format, manipulate, archives images to the PACS system Assists patient with completing informed consent form Implements downtime procedures (manual operations) when computer systems or equipment fails Maintains equipment and room in proper working condition Demonstrates and promotes a healthy work environment and good teamwork Assists in organizing work flow utilizing available staff and rooms Performs various clerical duties and completes additional duties/projects QUALIFICATIONS - TECH I AND II Completion of a formal educational Radiologic Technology program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the ARRT Currently certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Maintains minimum CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of employment QUALIFICATIONS - TECH I ONLY Possess MR certification (ARRT) within 36 months of employment QUALIFICATIONS - TECH II ONLY Possess MR certification (ARRT) Please Note:
