Position Title: Gastrointestinal (GI) Sales Specialist
Territory: Manhattan & Brooklyn, NY (NY Metro Area Only)
Location Requirements:
- Must reside in the New York Metro area , specifically Manhattan or Brooklyn .
- Upstate NY residents will not be considered.
- Candidates from New Jersey may be considered if they have prior NY territory sales experience and can commute effectively.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly driven, experienced Gastrointestinal Sales Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GI-focused pharmaceutical sales , a proven track record in field-based sales roles, and the ability to effectively engage with healthcare professionals in various settings.
This role requires an in-depth understanding of GI diseases, therapeutic options, and sales strategies tailored to physicians and providers in the Manhattan and Brooklyn territories. Candidates should be adept in professional communication both in-person and over video, with a self-starter mindset and strong customer relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and sell GI-focused pharmaceutical products to providers (physicians, NPs, PAs) – not buyers or institutions.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive territory business plan to meet/exceed sales targets.
- Analyze market trends, sales data, and customer insights to refine targeting strategies.
- Attend and support 5–6 conferences annually , in addition to National Sales Meeting (Feb–Mar) .
- Leverage industry knowledge and sales tools to maximize time in the field and drive territory growth.
- Deliver high-quality presentations via in-person and virtual channels.
Candidate Profile – Must-Have Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of total pharmaceutical sales experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Strong field sales experience (not inside sales)
- Demonstrated success selling to healthcare providers
- Ability to travel by car within the territory, with 3–4 overnight trips/month
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be based within or near the assigned territory
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience at mid-sized or smaller pharma companies preferred – candidates from Big Pharma often fall outside budget range.
- Background in Specialty Pharma , Endocrinology , or Metabolic disease states may be considered if GI experience is limited.
- Experience in large health system account management (e.g., VA or integrated delivery networks) is a plus.
- Proven track record with speaker programs, formulary pull-through, and strategic targeting .
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Candidate Considerations (What We’re Not Looking For):
- No candidates from Upstate NY
- Not interested in entry-level reps or those with no GI background
- Not accepting candidates with experience primarily in Diabetes sales
