Upper School Mathematics Faculty (Seattle, WA) Full Time (1.0 FTE) Salary/Exempt Academic Year Schedule (2025-2026) *This position is eligible for health benefits (details during hiring process). *This position requires applicants to be, at the time of application, legally authorized to work in the United States. The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Upper School team as an Upper School Mathematics Faculty member. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. The Upper School Mathematics Faculty member reports to the Upper School Director and works closely with students and families, as well as Upper School Faculty and Staff, while also being an active member of the school’s Mathematics Department. This position will be responsible for teaching four sections of math per term, ranging from Algebra I to Calculus (the exact classes have not been determined at this time). Additionally, this faculty position will co-lead a three-week interdisciplinary Upper School Cascades program between semesters and guide one Advisory group for the academic year. While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks listed below: Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the school. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities for Upper School math courses that facilitate active learning experiences in a student-driven, inquiry-based manner. Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily interactions and within the curriculum. Establish classroom expectations that create a safe and comfortable environment for all students. Create and sustain effective family partnerships, for example: communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom news via formal fall/spring conferences, written communications, and school portal. Observe/evaluate/assess students’ development and maintain accurate records regarding student progress and areas of growth. Co-lead a three-week interdisciplinary Upper School Cascades program between semesters. Serve as an advisor to a group of 8-10 Upper School students. Attend and chaperone school-related events outside the scheduled school day. Participate actively and with curiosity in school/division/department/committee meetings on Wednesdays until 5:15 pm, as well as student community gatherings during the school day. Collaborate with school counselors and learning specialists to plan lessons, curriculum, materials, and resources to effectively serve students with different learning profiles and mental health needs. Collaborate with other members of the mathematics faculty to create common experiences centered on student inquiry. Utilize technology to support student success (e.g. Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, learning management systems, etc.). Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned. Experience and Professional Competencies: Experience teaching mathematics is required, with 3 or more years preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required, with a mathematics major or related subject area preferred. A graduate degree in mathematics, education, or related field preferred. Proficient skills in the use of technology, including, but not limited to Mac or Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and relevant cloud-based tools. Additional Requirements: Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED Certification (or receive one soon after hire date). Meet the school’s standards when completing two separate background screenings. Compensation/Benefit Information for this position: Salary Range: $57,120 - $103,750. Faculty employees with a Master’s degree, PhD and/or National Certification may be eligible for additional compensation.
