Heavy Equipment Operator

REPORTS TO: Yard Manager

COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience ranging from $17 - $20 per hour

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time – 40 hours/week

WORK SCHEDULE:

During the following hours of operation:
Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Saturday as needed 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

JOB OVERVIEW:

Scrap metal yard located in Ashville NY, seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to handle day to day tasks. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Material purchase entries, including weighing truck in/out, verifying accounts/prices
2. Creating and maintaining all outbound documents
3. Clerical and administrative support including filing
4. Communicate with yard personnel using a 2-way radio
5. Assist with yard projects as assigned
6. Sorting various metals by grade and preparing outbound loads
7. Move material using various forms of heavy equipment
8. Provide excellent customer service

REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Valid Drivers’ License
3. Strong attention to detail as well as an efficient, hardworking, and dependable attitude.
4. Computer aptitude (Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
5. Ability to work with little or no supervision, are flexible and a team player
6. Detail Oriented
7. Ability to multi-task
8. Ability to work in all weather conditions
9. Ability to Operate Heavy Equipment/Forklift Helpful
