Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and diagnose eye conditions. Prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids based on patient needs. Manage and treat conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy. Educate patients on eye health, preventive measures, and proper care of their visual aids. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in electronic health systems. Adapt examination techniques to optimize the care provided in a mobile setting. Requirements Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school. State licensure to practice as an optometrist in New Mexico. Proven experience in a clinical optometry or healthcare setting. Strong understanding of ocular diseases and disorders. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a mobile care setting.
