About the roleAs Momence's first dedicated accounting hire, you'll play a critical role in bringing our financial operations in-house, designing scalable processes, and directly influencing our financial strategy. The Accounting Manager will lead the transition of accounting functions from external partners to in-house operations, establishing efficient processes that scale with our growth. You'll implement our internal accounting infrastructure while working closely with the CEO and leadership to provide financial insights that drive business decisions and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
This role offers significant growth potential as Momence continues to expand. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with a hands-on, process-improvement mindset to create streamlined financial operations that support our business objectives.
This is a full-time, fully remote position, for which we're considering candidates residing in the United States, able to work in U.S. time zones.
What you will do- Establish Momence's internal accounting function, bringing ownership of critical processes in-house
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Develop and document scalable accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Implement best-in-class accounting processes and standardize reporting to improve efficiency
- Oversee day-to-day operations related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
- Manage Sage Intacct and identify opportunities to optimize financial systems, ensuring scalability for future growth
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and support business planning; experience building forecasting models is a plus
- Ensure timely tax submissions and full compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure financial compliance
- Generate financial reports and insights to support leadership in strategic decision-making
- Equip department leaders with financial insights to enhance decision-making and fiscal responsibility
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with demonstrated expertise in GAAP and technical accounting
- Experience with month-end close, financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance
- Proficiency with accounting software (Sage Intacct and QuickBooks experience a plus)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills, especially explaining financial concepts to non-financial team members
- Self-starter who thrives in an autonomous, remote environment
- Experience as a first accounting hire at a startup or high-growth company
- Background in SaaS or subscription-based business models
- Track record of establishing accounting functions from scratch
- Knowledge of revenue recognition principles for subscription businesses
- Experience with financial systems implementation or optimization
$120,000 - $150,000 annually, based on a number of factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
