At Corrections Health, we provide medically needed health care to adults and youth in custody at Multnomah County Jails and Juvenile Detention Facility. Key Responsibilities : The Nursing Director will work with the Director and Medical Director to ensure Corrections Health continues to provide consistent quality healthcare to adults and youth in custody in Multnomah County and any clients we serve both in and out of custody. This position will work with the Senior Operations Manager to ensure consistency of workflows, processes, documentation, and policies throughout all clinic sites for all healthcare staff in compliance with federal, state, local, and National Commission on Correctional Health Care standards. The Nursing Director will directly supervise the adult facility Nursing Managers and Nursing Supervisor of the Juvenile Detention Facility. This position will provide direction and support for the nursing programs in the Division, ensure quality recruitments, onboarding, mentoring training, and retention plans. Clinical Oversight Evaluates the quality of Corrections health services provided by collaborating with clinical leadership, reviewing reports, and statistical data. Takes an active role in ensuring the National Commission on Corrections Health Care standards are implemented and monitored for compliance. Involved with audits or site visits concerning accreditation and/or quality improvement. Participates in the Investigatory process concerning client or external agency complaints. Provides communication and training plans for division staff on changes and updates. Partners with the Sheriff Office's leadership and staff on intradepartmental concerns. Leadership Provides mentorship, direct management, coaching, and oversight to nursing Program Managers. Ensures nursing managers follow County, Health Department, and Corrections Health policies and procedures. Participates in team meetings and works in partnership to develop and implement the mission and values of Corrections Health. Works with the leadership team to review, update, and create Corrections Health policies. Labor Relations :
Provide nursing management expertise in the negotiation and implementation of nursing contracts. Communication and Creating Partnerships Serve as an expert in Corrections Health nursing practices and interdepartmental relationships. Assists and advises staff with difficult and complex issues. Partners with management teams to ensure clients receive the appropriate level of care. Nursing Development Works with Health HR to create effective recruitment strategies. Ensures quality onboarding, training, and mentoring programs. Verifies division-wide performance related goals and objectives are evaluated and met. TO QUALIFY : We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Minimum Qualifications / Transferable Skills License to practice as a registered nurse as outlined by Oregon Revised Statutes. Three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. CPR / BLS certification. Must be able to pass a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Background Check.
