Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Waste Manager based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
What You Will Do
We are seeking an enthusiastic and effective Waste Manager to provide leadership and develop our Waste Management Service here at NHS A&A. You will have direct responsibility for the provision and management of waste services across sites within budgetary constraints and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, legislative and Health & Safety requirements, ensuring the delivery of cost-effective, efficient services which underpin and support both clinical and non-clinical services.
- Manage and develop NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s waste management policy, strategy and infrastructure ensuring that it supports both clinical and non-clinical departments and is responsive to the changing needs of NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
- Professional lead for Waste Management fulfilling the role as Designated Officer For Waste Management for the board, as stated in National Guidance.
- Ensure the area-wide procurement of all waste contracts, minimizing costs to NHS Ayrshire & Arran, while monitoring the performance of waste services.
- Provide advice and support to Locality Site/Support Services Managers and Managers involved in Waste Management on all objectives and lead implementation of strategic developments for Waste Management, including training and support to all levels of staff.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
- Skills and knowledge of Waste Management.
- Educated to degree level in an environment or sustainability-related subject, or with specialist extensive relevant equivalent experience to Masters level or equivalent.
- Level 4 Special waste Transfer station operations (WAMITAB) CIWM membership and willingness to work towards chartered status.
- Experience of management and auditing in a waste management operational environment.
- Experience of sustainability and environmental improvements.
Hours
37 hours per week.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership
A car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
