All Borough employees who occupy positions where federal law mandates testing shall comply with the requirements of the federal regulations and will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion return to duty and follow-up testing.
Operates North Slope Borough heavy equipment; maintains roads, airports, and landfills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment and other machinery in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Maintain and clear roads, airport runways and access roads, and landfill areas.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to operations; complete shift inspection checklist.
- Maintain vehicle log, inspection forms, maintenance record and daily trip reports.
- Inspect and clean equipment and facility; report maintenance needs and deficiencies to supervisor.
- Load and unload aircraft with heavy equipment.
- Be polite and courteous to the public.
- May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evenings, holidays, and weekends, and may be subject to 24-hour on-call status.
- Attend all required scheduled safety meetings.
- Travel to villages as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in heavy equipment operation.
- Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
- High School graduate or G.E.D., or a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
- One year of experience with heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
