JOB SUMMARY
The OR Aide works the supervision of the Surgical Services Managers and Supervisors. The OR Aide assists with room turnover between patients, terminal room cleaning when cases are completed, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment used throughout the day. Other duties include ordering and stocking supplies for the department that are stored within other areas of the hospital. Obtaining and preparing beds for inpatients as well as the transporting of specimens when needed. May cross-train to other areas assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Cleans and prepares OR suites and equipment.
- Inventories, orders, and maintains supplies in all designated areas.
- Stocks OR suites, scrub sinks, and supply areas including OSTS, PACU, and Anesthesia.
- Assists with patient transfers and transport.
- Obtains patient admit/OPO beds and prepares them for post-surgery.
- Provides service excellence to all customers.
- Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
- Prepares cleaning solutions for OR, OSTS, PACU, and Anesthesia.
- Performs decontamination of instruments and equipment and returns to appropriate location.
- Cross-trains to other areas in the department.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned. This list is non-exhaustive.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- High school graduate or GED.
- Licensure
- None
- Experience
- Experience in housekeeping preferred but will train.
- Certifications required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required
- Ability to analyze and anticipate department needs without frequent supervision (supplies, room turnover).
- Must relate well with patients, families, hospital staff, physicians, and the public.
- Ability to multi-task and ability to function successfully in a team environment.
- Communicates effectively with internal and external customers.
- Computer Knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic records. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
