Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, skid steers, and backhoes for trenching, digging pits, and excavations.
• Backfill.
• Follow precise grades and dig lines as laid out by foremen and locators.
• Safely dig around live utilities, including fiber, power, gas, water, and sewer lines.
• Load and unload spoils and materials safely at jobsites and yards.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure safe machine operation.
• Support laborers and the crew as needed in between equipment operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in underground construction or a related trade.
• Deep understanding of safe digging practices, especially around existing utilities.
• Strong awareness of surroundings, trench safety, and underground depths.
• Positive, coachable attitude and commitment to teamwork and core values.
• Ability to lift 90+ lbs and work in all weather conditions.
• Must have a valid Class A.
• Experience with trench shields, rigging, and utility locating is a bonus.

Compensation

$24 - $28 hourly
