JOB OVERVIEW
:
The Events Specialist will perform a range of internal and outreach event functions supporting multiple programs and departments, including - but not limited to - Communications and Community Engagement, Resource Development, Human Resources, Facilities, and the Board of Directors. The Events Specialist will serve as the primary event planner for certain mid-level outreach and internal events while also providing support and coordination for other events, minor and major. This role will oversee the organizational master calendar and events database to ensure cohesion and synergy between events and mission. This role will work closely with the Communications team to properly promote and cover events via social media and online.
ESSENTIAL FUCTIONS
:
Plan mid-to-major-level events for organization including but not limited to internal staff events, outreach events, Board events, and others as needed.
Head up the staff Event Committee to cultivate staff participation in internal and outreach events
Coordinate with all programs and departments on organizational master calendar
Coordinate staffing coverage of all events, internal and outreach
Support Resource Development events via coordination, staffing, and other event planning needs
Represent organization at roughly 2-4 outreach events per quarter
Cover internal and outreach events on social media in partnership with Communications Specialist and Director of Communications
Build and manage event database in coordination with Communications Specialist
Coordinate with program teams for social media coverage of program-specific outreach events
Work with Human Resources to evaluate staff events and gather feedback to improve future staff events
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
At least 3-5 years of experience in a busy event-planning environment, with major and mid-level event planning knowledge.
Proficiency in all social media platforms, with understanding of trends and analytics tools
Bachelor’s degree.
Clean driving record and willingness to drive for event activities in within the service areas of Los Angeles County.
Ability to work night and weekend activities, as needed.
Must have California Driver’s License and Insurance
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit/community outreach strongly

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing or sitting for long periods of time along with being able to move and walk, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Constantly operates a computer using repetitive motions.
Quickly organizes thoughts and has the ability to clearly receive and give information face to face, via technology and in writing.
Occasionally must operate a motor vehicle to travel to other sites, events, etc.
Work independently and autonomously, with others, and around others.
Ability to prioritize work and make decisions.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is an exempt position, with a hybrid office three (3) days in the office and up to two (2) days remote after the 90-day introductory period. This can vary based on organizational need. There may be occasional evening or weekend events that require Events Specialist presence. Will require a personal motor vehicle to frequently travel between offices, appointments, and community events
