Position Overview
As a
Paving Operator , you will be responsible for operating paving machines and other heavy equipment to lay, spread, and compact asphalt for road construction and maintenance projects. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation:
Operate paving machines, rollers, motor graders, and other heavy equipment to ensure proper asphalt application. Adjust machine settings for optimal thickness, smoothness, and consistency. Load and unload equipment safely at job sites. Project Execution:
Assist with surface preparation, grading, and leveling as needed. Monitor equipment performance and address any operational issues. Utilize hand tools to spread and smooth asphalt when required. Maintenance & Safety:
Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance (e.g., greasing, checking fluids). Report any mechanical issues to supervisors or maintenance teams. Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Team Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with the paving crew, foreman, and project managers. Assist team members in maintaining workflow and efficiency.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating a paving machine. Strong understanding of job site safety and traffic regulations. Ability to work in outdoor construction environments, including high-traffic areas, exposure to loud noise, heat, and asphalt fumes. Physical ability to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods. Reliable transportation to job sites.
Location:
Outdoor job sites with varying conditions.
Dress Code:
Steel-toe boots, work pants, and a solid shirt are required.
