Position Overview:
ThayerMahan is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Persistent Surveillance Systems to lead maritime operations planning, coordination, and execution. This individual will play a critical role in the deployment and testing of ThayerMahan's advanced surveillance systems, including at-sea operations.
The ideal candidate is a former naval officer with extensive experience in operational maritime roles, particularly in undersea warfare (USW). The role requires leadership in complex maritime surveillance efforts, including occasionally leading teams during at-sea system deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of maritime surveillance/monitoring operations, including the deployment and testing of ThayerMahan's systems. Develop operational strategies and concepts of employment for persistent surveillance technologies. Manage and support at-sea operations, including participation in and oversight of live deployments. Provide technical and operational expertise on undersea warfare (USW), undersea surveillance, and unmanned maritime systems. Collaborate with internal engineering teams to refine system capabilities based on operational feedback. Work closely with government and commercial partners to align ThayerMahan's capabilities with mission requirements. Train and mentor personnel on operational best practices and system utilization. Required Qualifications
U.S. Navy experience required, preferably as a naval officer or in an equivalent operational role. Deep understanding of undersea warfare (USW) tactics, techniques, and procedures. Experience leading and executing maritime operations involving surveillance, reconnaissance, or undersea warfare. Ability to lead and manage teams in high-tempo environments, including at-sea testing. Strong communication skills to engage with internal teams, external customers, and strategic partners. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Up to 25% travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with maritime unmanned systems and undersea surveillance technologies. Familiarity with government acquisition processes and operational test/evaluation procedures. Previous experience working with industry partners and Department of Defense stakeholders. Why Join ThayerMahan?
