Provides empathetic pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the effective use of medications and drug interaction awareness. Offers preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcome services. Ensures prescribed medications are compounded, reviewed, dispensed, and verified accurately according to regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Manages an efficient pharmacy workflow, improves pharmacy financials, manages inventory effectively, and enhances patient experience. Manages pharmacy staff performance and engagement, overseeing training, coaching, and performance management initiatives. Job Responsibilities:
Patient Experience
Engages patients, greets them, offers assistance, resolves issues promptly, and answers questions to ensure a positive experience. Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a joyful patient experience, demonstrating care and Walgreens service traits. Connects with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, promoting the shift from transactional to interpersonal pharmacy roles. Participates in community events as requested. Operations
Counsels patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, privacy, generics, OTC products, and refers to medical providers as needed. Performs pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews and dispenses medications accurately, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies. Ensures efficient pharmacy operations, oversees staff scheduling, roles, activities, and shift changes. Applies Good Faith Dispensing policies in accordance with laws when filling prescriptions. Collaborates in defining strategic business opportunities. Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems and supports staff and patients with IT, seeking productivity improvements. Ensures accurate insurance claim processing and resolves patient issues with insurers and providers. Follows up with providers on prescriptions, dosages, refills, interactions, allergies, and medical questions. Performs clinical and wellness services, including immunizations and diagnostic testing. Partners with centralized support for patient registration and issue resolution, including virtual environments. Maintains the pharmacy environment, including repairs, cleaning, and equipment updates. Prepares and submits necessary legal and regulatory documentation. People & Performance Management
Collaborates on hiring, discipline, termination, and legal compliance. Establishes expectations, promotes teamwork, recognizes improvements, and manages performance through training and reviews. Supports Store Manager by communicating health and wellness strategies to pharmacy staff. Business Performance Management
Analyzes performance data, manages pharmacy assets, and identifies improvement opportunities. Business Planning
Builds relationships with healthcare providers, promotes the pharmacy, and supports community health initiatives. Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited institution. Current pharmacist licensure in the states within the district. Certified Immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days. At least 1 year of pharmacy experience, including prescription filling, recordkeeping, compliance, operations, software, and insurance billing. Experience with prescription dispensing laws. Internal candidates require an average leadership rating of at least 3.0 and no disciplinary actions in the past year.
