West Virginia University Medicine seeks a Section Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for West Virginia University Hospitals/University Health Associates
to assume a faculty position at WVU Medicine, J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV
The physician leader in this role will lead this growing Division which provides comprehensive clinical care including general Gastroenterology, advanced liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, motility, and pancreaticobiliary disease. This position will also lead the development of a collaborative and integrated gastroenterology program across the WVU Medicine twenty-four system hospitals. The Division also includes a robust Gastroenterology Fellowship, Advanced GI fellowship, and participates in the education of residents and medical students.
J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital offers a state-of-the-art endoscopy center with cutting edge advanced endoscopy capabilities, with adjacent clinics and office space. Candidates interested in basic or clinical research in gastroenterology or hepatology are encouraged to apply. Those with research credentials will be eligible for appointment and resources in the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
Candidate Profile
The position requires an accomplished physician and leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and maintain a collegial and highly productive culture.
Minimum Education, Certification, Licensure, and Experience: MD, MD/PhD or DO degree from an accredited medical school (employer accepts foreign educational equivalent). Completion of an accredited internal medicine residency program and gastroenterology fellowship. Certified by a board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association in Gastroenterology. Hold or able to obtain medical licensure in the State of West Virginia by start date. Demonstrated experience with established evidence of achievements in clinical care, education, and research. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials.
