Description
The purpose of this position is to maintain the health center in a clean, sanitary, and secure condition. This position is full time, non-exempt. The Daytime Custodian is supervised by the Continuous Quality Improvement Specialist. The Custodian must be detail oriented, able to work independently, self-motivated and make changes as needed on a daily basis without the supervisor's presence.
Duties Include
- Custodial Operations
- Maintain interior areas in a clean condition, including offices, lobbies, hallways, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas as needed which includes but is not limited to:

- Dusting of furniture, equipment, windowsills, floorboards, and fixtures
- Cleaning windows
- Sweep/mop/vacuum
- Wiping down walls
- Empty trash and recycling if full in designated dumpster
- Disinfect all common touch surfaces, i.e., door handles, light switches, stair railing, kids play equipment, etc.
- Pick up trash in parking lot, sidewalks, and surrounding lawn.

- Run disinfecting robot on schedule in designated areas.
- Wipe down exam rooms, including countertop and all chairs after use and at the end of the day with appropriate disinfecting spray and wipes.
- Ensures bathrooms are clean, disinfected and restocked with supplies throughout the day.
- Must maintain equipment and supplies in a tidy and organized manner.
- Ensures the security of all cleaning and sanitation equipment and supplies by checking that designated storage areas are locked.
- Help maintaining clean conditions in other PGST governmental buildings as needed or as time allows.
- General Facilities Work
- Report the need for building repairs to supervisor prior to fixing.
- Completes small general repairs when time allows which includes but is not limited to:
- Unclog sinks, toilets and drains.
- Assemble and/or move furniture and other large equipment.
- Making minor repairs to walls, floors, plumbing, and electrical
- Helps with Facilities Laborers when needed.
- Safely keeps all assigned building keys.
- Attend and participate in various staff meetings.
- Works well in cooperation with other tribal staff.
- Health and Safety
- Always adheres to personal safety and comply with all safety and health rules and regulations.
- Wears personal protective gear when working with chemicals or bodily fluids.
- Adheres to bloodborne pathogen standards.
- Trains on heavy electrical equipment.
- Dilutes chemicals properly and handles hazardous waste safely.
- Lock building doors and close windows if there are no other staff members present.
- Customer Satisfaction:
- Pays attention to detail and maintains quality of work.
- Preforms all work duties with minimal interruption to other staff occupying buildings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Experience: One year of experienceworking as a custodial staff is preferred
- Licensing/Certification: Valid Washington State Driver's License.
- Personal computer skills: Basic Computer skills are required, will need to be able to learn to use the Paycom timekeeping system and log in to PGST email for notifications.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be detailed oriented.
- Requires the ability to learn the proper use of cleaning and sanitation equipment, supplies, cleaning methods and distinguish between different cleaning supplies.
- Some knowledge and/or the ability to learn about occupational hazards and personal safety precautions.
- Ability to operate and lift equipment and use commercial cleaning supplies.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Ability to perform a variety of routine cleaning tasks and minor building repairs.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work flexible hours
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to finger, handle, reach with hands and arms
- Considerate physical exertion
- Long periods of standing and walking with frequent bending and stooping
- Repetitively required to lift and/or move heavy objects (such buckets, vacuum cleaners, and trash) up to 75 pounds
- Normal audio and visual acuity
- Local, Statewide, and out of state travel may be required.
