Job Description Summary:
The Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) is responsible for leadership, direction, and oversight of APPs in a specific Service Line(s). The Director of APPs leads a team of APP managers who oversee teams of APPs (Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Midwives). The Director of APPs develops collaborative relationships with operational and clinical leadership to support system initiatives while ensuring consistent practice and oversight of APPs. The Director of APPs collaborates with independently employed APPs to update on any potential impact on their practice as well as general OhioHealth updates relevant to their service lines. The Director of APPs promotes recruitment and retention of high caliber APPs by collaborating with frontline APPs, APP Managers and Leads, and Operational, Nursing, and Clinical Leaders. The Director of APPs also maintains a clinical practice as part of their leadership role.
Responsibilities And Duties:
The Director of APPs: • Demonstrates the OhioHealth leadership competencies by acting as a people developer, results driver and culture builder. Examples include, but are not limited to: o Serving as a role model by demonstrating OhioHealth's mission, vision, and values o Collaborating with leadership to strategically plan, promote, and support the role of the APP o Directing top of license practice within Service Line(s) o Serving as a team mentor while providing development opportunities for APP Leads and Managers of APPs o Driving work around APP engagement and satisfaction o Promoting evidenced based practice and lifelong learning o Driving cultural and organizational activities that support OhioHealth o Recruiting, developing, and retaining skilled APP leaders for their respective practice area o Strategically deploying resources to meet organizational needs continuously assessing APP operations with the aim of identification of opportunities for improvement o Ensuring all regulatory, accreditation and clinical standards are met and keeping up to date knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements pertaining to APRN and PA practice at state and national level o Developing goals and implementing processes to support the balanced scorecard o Maintaining direct oversight of specified area(s) including, but not limited to, APP clinical and performance evaluations, personnel development, and other pertinent HR tasks o Developing and managing budgets for area, including participation in provider workforce planning • Maintains a clinical practice as defined by the clinical job description. Direct patient care is expected to be 10% of Director APP role. Flexibility of time allocation is based on varying needs and responsibilities.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
•
Experience with accrediting bodies and knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
• Understanding of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and professional billing and practice standards.
• Knowledge of current trends in PA and APRN practice as well as current knowledge of theory of healthcare delivery and systems.
• Possess and maintain full knowledge of all requirements of advanced practice positions, roles, and requirements of practice; competencies, certifications, state and board of nursing and medicine regulations and licensing.
• Able to foster relationships with hospital administration, APPs, physicians and other leaders.
