About the Role We are seeking a Team Lead – Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering department within our Flex Air Division. As the Team Lead you will direct the electrical engineering, design and construction with the electrical engineering team. You’ll provide design work, contribute to team technical collaboration, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with other portions of the design process. You and the other members of your electrical design team will work closely with the broader multi-discipline team in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents. Your responsibilities will include engineering and design for power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications systems in complex modular industrial facilities. Additional responsibilities may include the management of quality, scope, budget and schedule.
Responsibilities Lead and Direct the Electrical Engineering Team by performing (power-specific) engineering, procurement, and construction activities for a variety of critical and fast-paced company projects. Mentor and share knowledge with team members to foster professional growth. Review project work for the electrical engineering team for accuracy and completeness. Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for industrial, and commercial type projects. Design electrical distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Collaborate with customers project managers, and team members to gather project requirements and provide updates on progress. Produce detailed design documentation, including drawings and specifications. Complete engineering functions and calculations (i.e. voltage drop, flicker, etc.) Contribute to a positive team environment, fostering collaboration and open communication. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development. Design electrical systems and equipment such as power generators, electronic control systems, communications systems, HVAC equipment, lighting circuits, medium and low voltage electrical circuits, and mechanical pumping systems. Assess and evaluate electrical systems, products and components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of NEC to electrical design and function. Troubleshoot relay and data system designs Track project timelines to complete tasks on schedule May assist in performing unique setups, troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems. Evaluate machine and equipment. Recommend purchase of capital equipment items designed to improve production efficiency. Review cost estimate and job specific requirements and report as engineering design with any costing descriptions. Design and layout for modular construction (skid mount applications and enclosures).
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology.
Required Skills 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience working in power distribution and 3+ years of leadership experience. Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (Working knowledge of delta/wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility grounding. Advanced progressive experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, and campus-style power distribution including conveyance. Extensive knowledge of and experience with industrial facility design. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit or BIM software. Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC). Effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches. Experience creating and implementing process/design solutions with minimal impact to business operations. Ability to quickly assess an issue and assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair. Acute attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problems. Familiarity with the National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, and International Building Code.
