Summary:
The Safety Hyperbaric Technician, under the direction of the Director of Wound Care and/or RN Clinical Lead, provides overall safety and Hyperbaric chamber responsibilities. The Position is also responsible for the patient daily treatment schedule and related daily operations. Responsibilities:
Responsible for safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen to all patients. Conducts patient HBO consultation and reinforces education as it relates to hyperbaric medicine. Reviews all patient records pertaining to hyperbaric treatment. Demonstrates proper lifting of patients and transfers.
Ensures the safe, effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related systems through collaboration with facility management personnel and department medical personnel. Signs all repair and maintenance conducted on facility chambers
Provides leadership and training to other members of the hyperbaric program team. Maintains competencies and education for any other HBO coverage personnel. Validates chamber safety training for all staff at the Center.
Reviews all departmental safety incidents, collects information regarding equipment, and reports incidents. Makes recommendations for departmental safety policies and incorporates new safety procedures as appropriate. Holds decision authority for restricting or removing any potentially hazardous supply or equipment items from the chamber(s). Evaluates hyperbaric chamber equipment/supplies used in the chamber and ensures that they meet all safety requirements before that are permitted inside the chamber. Generates hyperbaric chamber safety drills to improve staff response to emergency situations. Conducts an annual safety review of related events to identify trends and monitor improvements.
Ensures Compliance with NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities, Chapter 20, Hyperbaric Facilities and Departments Policies and Procedures.
Assists Wound Care Department with daily patient needs as requested.
Maintains database with all current documentation.
Fosters positive relationships with local fire Marshall and emergency services as appropriate.
Credentials:
Basic Cardiac Life Support EMT or EMT-P, or LPN, or RN or RT X Completion of a 40 hours credit, NBDHMT approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course. X Completion of the Chamber Operator and Safety Workbook. X BLS Certification
Education or Equivalent Experience:
