Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Experience: One year preferred
License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC
Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required - ANCC National Nursing Certification ANCC approved is strongly preferred
Must-Have: - Associate Degree in Nursing required - Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred - Proficiency in English (Read, Write, Speak) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Patient care skills - Experience with EPIC
Job Description:
- Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and the patient/family - Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the nursing process and accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and State Nurse Practice Act - Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values - Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data - Evaluate patient's response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcome - Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team - Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient - Provide patient/family education through assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability. Evaluate effectiveness of teaching - Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for preferences, values, and needs - Deliver care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience - Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel according to State Board of Nursing and hospital policy - Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care - Serve as a professional role model for all staff by demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing practice - Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs - Follow standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed, and seek out learning opportunities and continuing education - Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning - Evaluate own integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations - Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process - Demonstrate a commitment to the organization through ongoing participation in hospital and unit-based meetings - Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data - Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes, patient experiences, and safe delivery of care - Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities - Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues
Schedule Notes: Floating is centralized, with no home unit or facility, and the base is the float zone's city center. Float assignments may change on a schedule-by-schedule basis, and floating may be required to any location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or identified float zone. Responsibilities may include duties outside original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
