The Senior Network Architect will drive the lifecycle management and operational excellence of Rockwell's global network. In coordination with Rockwell's Operations and Engineering teams, the senior network architect will own the end-to-end lifecycle management of our enterprise network architecture. This includes future design and planning for operating systems, platforms, routing, deployment, optimization and continuous improvement. You will report to Senior IT manager Global Network and work from one of offices located in Milwaukee, Mayfield Heights or Houston. Your Responsibilities:
Drive the full lifecycle management of network architecture, including planning, design, deployment, operations and decommissioning. Develop and maintain a robust framework for ongoing network health assessments, upgrades, and retirement planning to align with business and technology needs. Provide inputs into the optimization of our lifecycle processes to ensure minimal downtime and future scale. Coordinate with automation teams to champion the approach for network infrastructure to leverage automation tools and CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment of operating systems, hardware, and other technologies. Assist in the development and maintenance of network-as-code solutions to improve efficiency, consistency and reliability of the network and its various elements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business units to integrate network automation into broader IT, cloud and DevOps strategies. Lead proactive bug scrub processes to ensure identification, resolution and prevention of network issues while keeping the environment current with evolving software features. Establish procedures for continuous improvement based upon lessons learned from root cause analysis and performance monitoring. Assist in troubleshooting and remediation, as required, for complex network issues leveraging expertise to resolve challenges quickly, efficiently and effectively. Serve as subject matter expert and advocate for the best practices in network lifecycle management to influence stakeholders and mentor peers. Develop high-level and detailed network architecture designs and diagrams tailored to meet overall business objectives. Coordinate with Network Security to ensure architectural designs and configurations meet business, regulatory and security requirements. This role does not have managerial responsibilities. Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related fields. Experience designing and managing enterprise network infrastructures with a focus on lifecycle management. Expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), technologies (SD-WAN), and platforms (Cisco, Palo Alto, F5). Proficiency in network automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible). Experience with network DevOps methodology to include CI/CD integration. Expertise in managing bug scrubs and implementing preventative solutions. Strong technical writing skills for planned and corrective process documentation and lifecycle activities. Advanced certifications (CCNP, CCIE) Experience in hybrid cloud networking (Azure) Familiarity with ITIL processes and Agile project management. What We Offer:
