Job Description
Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is partnered with an organization in the non-profit sector, seeking a Director of Finance to join our team in Visalia, California. The Director of Finance will be an integral part of our team, responsible for managing the accounting system, overseeing daily operations, preparing financial reports, and developing internal controls.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Direct and control the accounting system to ensure accurate and timely processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and related reports to ensure clarity and transparency.
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-quality, deadline-driven environment.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and other engagements, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to streamline operations and maintain compliance.
• Monitor and report on cash flow and liquidity, providing key insights into financial health.
• Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
• Monitor fiscal performance throughout the organization to maintain compliance with government and contract requirements.
• Assist in developing and administrating the organization's fiscal policies and procedures manual, providing guidance and support to personnel.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local officials, funding agencies, and other service providers to foster a collaborative environment.
• Minimum of 7 years experience in a finance leadership role within a non-profit organization
• Proven expertise in preparing and managing annual budgets
• Demonstrated ability to perform month-end close processes efficiently and accurately
• Experience in preparing comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
• Strong background in conducting annual internal audits to ensure financial compliance and integrity
• Proficiency in audit management, including planning, executing, and reporting on audits
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and leadership abilities
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; advanced degree or certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred
• Familiarity with non-profit financial regulations and standards is essential
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders
• Proficient in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
