American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor (Reedley College) Part-Time Faculty Pool
This is a part-time position. Open until filled. Start dates may vary.
Essential Functions of Position
The ideal candidate will share Reedley College’s commitment to educating its racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. The successful candidate will provide instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) in various settings, teaching a range of ASL courses, using different pedagogies and instructional delivery systems. Responsibilities include maintaining professional standards, effective communication with students, evaluating student progress, and fulfilling all instructor duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of directly related experience;
OR - Associate degree AND six years of directly related experience;
OR - A valid California Community College credential;
OR - The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s in American Sign Language;
- Bachelor’s in American Sign Language;
- Teaching experience;
- Knowledge of deaf culture;
- Other ASL professional experience;
- Experience in instructional technologies;
- Effective communication skills;
- Experience with diverse student populations;
- Experience addressing equity issues in the classroom;
- Contribution to institutional growth;
- Knowledge of community college mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits
Starting rates are $45.49 – $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 – $52.55 for lab. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
