Position Overview The Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees the operational, clinical, and financial performance of home healthcare services, including hospice, home health, and palliative care. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care, compliance with regulatory standards, and sustainable growth. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the COO fosters innovation, collaboration, and excellence, establishing a culture of accountability, clinical effectiveness, and patient-centered care. This position is critical in shaping the strategic vision and operational success of the organization while maintaining strong relationships with staff, providers, and stakeholders.
Principal accountabilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Leadership & Strategic Planning Operational Excellence Quality & Compliance Financial Management Talent Management Community & Stakeholder Relations Risk Management Education Job Description : Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, or a related field required. Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred. Advanced nursing degree (e.g., DNP, MSN) and/or a master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field (MBA, MPH) desired. Experience Minimum of 15 years in healthcare operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven track record in home healthcare, hospice, or palliative care operations. Knowledge Home Healthcare Expertise: In-depth understanding of hospice, palliative care, and home health services. Regulatory Environment: Familiarity with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and reimbursement processes. Healthcare Trends: Awareness of industry trends, including patient-centered care models and technological advancements. Risk Management: Knowledge of strategies to identify and mitigate operational and clinical risks. Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with medical staff, community organizations, and external partners. Skills Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Financial Acumen: Expertise in managing budgets, financial reporting, and cost optimization. Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage teams and stakeholders. Operational Efficiency: Skilled in optimizing workflows and driving improvements in clinical and operational performance. Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of compliance standards and quality improvement initiatives in home healthcare. Decision-Making: High-level problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure. Pay Range is $143.03 to $193.51 / hour The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
