SECRETARY/ACCOUNTANT TO DIRECTOR
NAGE LOCAL (R1-200)
BOE NUTRITION CENTER
32.5-HOURS PER WEEK
SALARY: $68,832.00 (STEP 1)- $74,197.00 (STEP 4) *
Current BPS employees in the Bargaining Unit will be given first opportunity to fill the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs secretarial and administrative responsibilities of a complex and confidential nature.
- Maintains the Director’s calendar, must be available for special meetings, requiring notes and reports.
- Responsible for keeping all USDA commodity contracts.
- Processes all incoming mail, keeps office records as appropriate and maintains files for such records.
- Utilizes a variety of management information systems including, but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and E-mail.
- Prepares correspondence and special reports as required.
- Serves as an assistant/backup to the Payroll Compensation Processor, checking and verifying payroll and supporting documents for accuracy of information.
- Compiles data for inclusion in relatively complex statistical reports.
- Prepares Excel spreadsheets in regard to financial reporting as needed.
- Maintains the Nutrition Center’s operating statements and utilizes the City of Bridgeport computer accounting system.
- Other duties as assigned under the general direction of the Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Previous office and/or payroll-financial experience preferred, with at least two years' experience in a position that required minimal supervision and working independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- The ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
- Knowledge of Board of Education programs, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.
