Are you a Principal Software Engineer seeking a unique opportunity to work on a high-traffic, dual-sided marketplace (B2B and B2C), as a Founding Engineer? Are you a Principal Software Engineer who has strong backend engineering skills with deep Python ecosystem experience and proven ability to architect and scale backend services? If yes, please continue reading... A Founding Principal Engineer is needed to help build an AI-enabled infrastructure transforming hiring and job search for the next generation of talent. Backed by top VC's, this is a rare opportunity to be among the first 10 employees of a tight-knit, mission-driven team. As a Founding Principal Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping both the technology and culture as the team rapidly expands this year. You'll leverage your Python expertise to design and implement scalable backend systems, driving home the mission to democratize job search and disrupt how hiring works today. Role & Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services to support millions of users. Work with the latest Python, FastAPI, Git, Node.js, Postgres, Docker, TypeScript, Terraform, Redis, and GCP technologies. Collaborate with the product team to launch new features quickly. Work with frontend engineers to design and implement RESTful APIs and shared API client libraries. Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on GCP. Ensure high performance, reliability, and security of backend systems. Design, development, and optimization of backend architecture with a focus on scalability, performance, and security. Partner with a talented engineering team to design and implement features while maintaining high code quality and adherence to best practices. Address complex technical challenges with a results-driven mindset, delivering innovative and effective solutions. Skills / Experience Needed: 7+ years of Python backend development experience. Skilled with GCP and cloud-based scaling solutions in a production environment. SQL optimization, HTTP protocols, and backend infrastructure experience. Experience optimizing database performance at scale. NodeJS and TypeScript experience. Skilled with FastAPI, Docker, Terraform and Redis. Proven ability to scale systems from 0 to 1 and handle high-traffic environments. Track record of building production-grade backend services from scratch. Should have an Active GitHub profile or contributions to open-source projects (especially in the Python ecosystem). Passion for solving deep engineering problems and optimizing systems. Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer is highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field from a Top Tier University.
