Description:
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our remote team. This role will primarily focus on mainframe database management, with approximately 70-80% of your time dedicated to Db2 on z/OS, while the remaining time will involve Oracle Database administration. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both Db2 and Oracle databases, as well as familiarity with various supporting technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Db2 Administration:
Manage and maintain Db2 databases on z/OS, ensuring optimal performance and availability. Oversee the upgrade and maintenance of Db2 v13. Coordinate with application teams to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
Oracle Database Administration:
Administer Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning. Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and managing Oracle databases. Provide support for Oracle Cloud environments.
BMC Products Management:
Leverage experience with Broadcom BMC products for database management and monitoring.
IBM IMS and Adabas Experience:
Apply knowledge of IBM IMS for database management tasks. Utilize some experience with Adabas as needed.
On-call Support:
Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation to address critical database issues promptly.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Senior Database Administrator with a strong focus on Db2 and Oracle databases. In-depth knowledge of database administration tasks, including backups, disaster recovery, security, and performance tuning. Familiarity with BMC products and tools for database management. Experience working in cloud environments, particularly with Oracle Cloud. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with application teams and stakeholders. Preferred Skills:
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks. Knowledge of data modeling and architecture best practices. Ability to mentor junior DBAs and contribute to team development.
