Position Summary: This role will assist the Head of Natural Gas Trading desk and Analysis team, on developing and maintaining supply/demand models, market analysis, database management, and presentations/meetings related to the Commercial Natural Gas Team within PCIA, HQ and other PCI branch offices.
Primary responsibility will be to maintain, develop and manage models related to the commercial functions of the Natural Gas Team; present at various meetings; analyze market drivers and eventually generate trade ideas. This role will manage the daily preparation, monitoring and analysis of fundamental data. The scope of models may include but is not limited to:
• Weather Adjusted S/D Balance
• Weekly EIA Storage Forecasts
• End of Season Storage Inventory Estimates
• Regional Balances and Pipeline Balances
• Coal to Gas Switching and Power Stacks
• Global LNG shipping
Secondary responsibilities will include:
• Ability to understand and present the output from the models and data analysis produced to audiences ranging from the local gas team to senior management
• Ability to see and communicate changes in market dynamics
• Store and streamline data files for other team members to be able to access and replicate
• Build and maintain relationships with industry analysts, consultants, and other commercial contacts
• Maintain infrastructure timelines to track new projects, retirements, and outages
• Stay informed with the regulatory environment in the US and its effect on commodities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required, economics/finance/business/mathematics or quantitative discipline preferred
• 5-10 years of natural gas experience preferred
• Exhibits a strong understanding of natural gas supply and demand factors
• Exhibits a strong understanding of cross-commodity economic relationships
• Basic understanding of trading and operations
• Proficient Excel skills (VBA, Python also a plus)
• Must be technically proficient with modeling and data management systems
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively across different audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
