Senior Planning Manager
The Senior Planning Manager is responsible for developing, mentoring, and leading the Planning team, ensuring the team works effectively to meet business objectives through strategic planning, forecasting, and resource management. The team is tasked with executing merchandise plans to drive sales, optimize inventory levels, and maximize profitability. This role involves analyzing sales trends, forecasting demand, and collaborating with various teams to ensure timely and accurate merchandise allocation. The Senior Planning Manager will serve as the vital link between the team and upper management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, and motivate a team of planners to ensure responsibilities are met accurately and delivered on time.
- Merchandise Planning: Develop comprehensive merchandise plans aligned with company goals and financial targets, utilizing historical data and market trends.
- Assortment Planning: Collaborate with buying and merchandising teams to determine product assortments, pricing strategies, and promotional plans based on customer preferences.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and turnover rates to identify opportunities for optimization and liability management.
- Allocation and Replenishment: Work with the Buying team to develop allocation strategies ensuring product availability aligns with sales potential.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze sales performance and profitability metrics to evaluate merchandise plan effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
- Budgeting: Create purchase budgets by channel, category, and class, allocating spend efficiently across focused categories.
- Risk Management: Identify potential inventory risks and develop strategies to mitigate them for successful project completion.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Finance, Buying, Merchandising, E-commerce, Retail, Demand Planning, and Supply Chain to coordinate planning activities.
- Reporting and Communication: Generate reports and presentations communicating key performance indicators, forecasts, and inventory insights to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Planning with at least 3-4 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets; familiarity with 42Tech, Full Circle, Shopify is a plus.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively while being detail-oriented with excellent multitasking capabilities.
- A passion for streetwear fashion with an understanding of the target audience is essential.
- This position requires daily presence in the LA office.
