Overview
We are looking for an individual to join a Research and Development team to help develop next generation solar materials and devices.
Location: Onsite-Evanston, Illinois
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to research and development initiatives focused on advancing solar and other green energy technologies.
- Assist the Principal Solar and technology development team in ensuring the successful execution of technology programs within established timelines and budgets.
- Work collaboratively with team members to facilitate the commercialization of new technologies.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in the development and scaling of next-generation solar technologies.
- Proficiency in solar device and module fabrication techniques, such as laser scribing for interconnect development, packaging, encapsulation, and barrier layer development.
- Hands-on experience in fabricating and characterizing materials for current and emerging solar and optoelectronic technologies (experience with perovskite-based materials preferred).
- Expertise in thin-film vacuum deposition techniques, including sputtering, atomic layer deposition, chemical vapor deposition, and thermal evaporation.
- Experience in thin-film solution processing techniques, such as blade coating, slot-die coating, and microgravure, is preferred.
- Familiarity with materials metrology, characterization, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) is a plus.
- Knowledge of tandem and multi-junction device technologies is advantageous.
- Proven experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property development and management.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor junior colleagues and lead through influence.
