QUALIFICATIONS Current Arizona State Guidance Counselor certification. Degree required in relevant field of study. Prior relevant work experience. Ability to obtain a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies. Board Alternative: Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement the district adopted Comprehensive Competency Based Guidance Curriculum (CCBG). Provide classroom and small group developmental activities. (e.g., self-esteem, problem-solving, decision making) Coordinate and facilitate the Child Study Team and the Multi Disciplinary Conference Team (MDC). Facilitate the introduction of students to the school community. Help students evaluate career interests and choices. Provide counseling for children on an individual basis to remediate behavioral, academic, and personal student concerns. Help to maintain student records and protect their confidentiality. Promote parents' understanding of academic progress, behavior, growth, and development issues. Help resolve student-teacher conflicts. Provide in-service training as needed. Consult about class interaction, student needs, and staff relationships. Aid in the interpretation of test results to students, parents and teachers. Take an active role in interpreting the school's objectives to students, parents and the community at large. Work closely with the school nurse in reporting cases of suspected child abuse. Facilitate special interest programs as needed, such as parenting groups and/or support groups. Other duties as may be assigned by the site administrator and/or the Director of Exceptional Student Services.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS The School Counselor reports to the site administrator. The School Counselor will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
