Scope
Lead operational business segment as a factory within a factory, through a team of managers, supervisors and technical resources. Plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Increase performance level of operations by developing processes to make problems visible and developing resources to fix the problems as they arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develop strategy to manage Process Line to ensure corporate goals and objectives are met.
Communicate vision and expectations to department managers.
Manage departmental performance measures through the use of visual controls and provide regular progress reports to manager.
Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas; work to continuously improve in all areas.
Provide leadership that focuses the operational team on the corporate strategic plan.
Manage the balance between daily management activities and improvement activities.
Manage the development and implementation of improvement plans for the operation.
Provide leadership that creates an effective pace of improvement.
Create and foster a problem-solving mentality.
Create and foster a 'Safety First' mentality.
Provide leadership for employee relations by modeling effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
Ensure compliance with company, national, state, and local standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
10 years of progressive operational experience.
Working knowledge of metal cutting processes.
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques.
Technical knowledge of machining, assembly, production planning.
Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
Interpersonal and communication skills.
Language Skills and Computer Skills
Must have working command of the English language.
Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language.
Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (verbal instructions, written memos and instructions).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Training Requirements
Complete all necessary training as required by assigned department and position.
Participate in and follow all company initiatives.
Participate in continuous improvement projects (Kaizen events, 5S, etc.).
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, squat and walk.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment
Safety glasses with side shields when on factory floor.
The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
All employees are required to apply ergonomic correctness to all job tasks.
May be required depending on position:
Annual vision updates in Medical Department.
Involvement in the hearing conservation program.
Involvement in the lead surveillance program.
Wearing of safety certified shoes/boots.
Participation in the stretching program.
Work Environment
Normal office environment conditions.
Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting.
Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting.
