Base pay range
$200,000.00/yr - $275,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Oxenham Group We are looking for a hands-on, technically confident Head of Software Engineering who will lead the development of embedded and application-level software for our innovative device. It requires real coding, architecture ownership, and a willingness to make clear, autonomous decisions. Key Responsibilities 30% Coding: Actively contribute to codebases—especially for embedded and application software. 50% Architecture & Documentation: Own system-level design, including architecture documents, design descriptions, SBOMs, and risk analysis. 20% Team & Vendor Management: Manage a small internal team (3 ICs + intern), collaborate with external partners and coordinate design reviews and compliance activities. Core Technologies Embedded: C, STMicroelectronics MCUs, RTOS; embedded software is fully self-contained in the pump. Mobile & PC Software: Android Studio, Visual Studio, C# (No C++). Patient- and provider-facing applications built on a shared framework. Connectivity: Bluetooth, over-the-air firmware updates. Must-Have Qualifications 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant embedded systems work. Deep experience in medical devices or other regulated industries (62304 familiarity is a must). Demonstrated FDA cybersecurity experience (or similar regulatory compliance exposure). Strong experience with SBOM analysis: tracking, identifying risks, applying patches. Skilled at writing and maintaining technical documentation for regulatory review. Track record of autonomous decision-making and leading small software teams. Preferred Qualifications Background in medical device, specifically diabetes-related devices. Experience with provider and patient UI/UX coordination. Familiarity with managing vendor/consultancy relationships for project-based work. Able to collaborate across disciplines and challenge leadership productively when needed. Seniority level
