The Role… At Soho House, a Maitre’D is passionate about customer service and hospitality, responsible for supervising members of the Host/Reception team. As the Maitre’D, you provide guests with a fun, approachable, and memorable experience. You help with welcoming, informing, and training new employees on managing reservation books, restaurant information, and steps of service. Additionally, you manage the reservation book, communicate special requests and notes to staff, and update the member database daily. A successful Maitre’D remains cool under pressure, quickly problem-solves, identifies solutions, and creates opportunities for positive experiences. The role requires thriving in fast-paced environments, maintaining order, building relationships, and delivering outstanding service that aligns with Soho House standards.
Main Duties include (but not limited to):
Maintaining 100% presence on the floor
Supporting and enforcing effective operating standards, being flexible to change, and fostering positive implementation
Overseeing Host and Reception team responsibilities
Providing constructive feedback, coaching, and training to staff on member/guest relations
Working with the General Manager to establish and maintain department procedures
Reviewing reservations for Max Care and PWK guests prior to service
Processing guest disputes and claims promptly, communicating next steps effectively
Ensuring all systems are up-to-date with accurate information and compliance with health and safety standards
Required Skills/Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of relevant work experience, with 3+ years in managing/supervisory roles
Leadership experience in training and developing a fun, approachable environment within the Reception Team
Experience with OpenTable, Salesforce, and Opera
Ability to answer high-volume phone inquiries professionally and timely
Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
Detail-oriented with multitasking abilities in high-volume settings
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
