Full-Time Special Education Director. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Director to lead our special education department and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Job Summary: The Special Education Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the school’s special education programs. This role involves ensuring compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and other relevant laws, providing leadership to special education staff, and supporting students with disabilities to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor special education programs under state and federal laws. Oversee the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, ensuring compliance and effectiveness. Supervise, mentor, and provide professional development for special education teachers and support staff. Collaborate with school leadership, general education teachers, and families to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place. Manage special education budgets and resources effectively. Conduct student evaluations, assessments, and eligibility determinations. Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and external agencies to coordinate services. Stay up-to-date with best practices, policies, and legal requirements in special education. Advocate for students with disabilities and foster an inclusive school culture. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Valid New Mexico administrative license or eligibility to obtain one. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in special education, with leadership or administrative experience preferred. Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and instructional strategies. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
